35 & 36

I translated my tracing of Nancy in the phonebox to lino and created a print. These are the first print tests - they're pretty smudged because I kept opening and closing the sketchbook before they had dried properly, but the prints themselves aren't going to be applied to any final garments. Because I do them with watercolour ink, I planned to print to fabric, use the print as a guide for machine embroidery, and then using water rinse away the ink.

These are some freehand nib and ink conceptual textile design applications. I don't like them very much - I think I was trying too hard to make them stylistically mismatched and ended up just making a bit of a mess. They're pretty incoherent, and one of them (the second from the right) features the book pattern from pages 5 and 6, which I had not put any development into and had already basically dropped as a line of design.
