These pages are me trying to create a pattern from the stacked books on the shelf in the photograph of Sutton's Bookshop, using a combination of acrylic paint, alcohol marker and watercolours. I included some works by Nancy Crow because I felt they were very much visually linked, both in colour and pattern. To add more depth to the spines I just started pulling titles from my own bookshelf. I talk more about this later, how media we interact with informs our beliefs, our style, our social circles and our biases.
I dislike these pages quite a lot. I think they are lacking in neutral tones which makes it very difficult to find a visual resting point, and ultimately this was a thread of research I discarded.
